Pricing in StorageLink
Overview
Pricing for StorageLink uses a pay-as-you-go model, which means you'll be charged $0.08
USD per hour that the VM runs.
This is a software charge on top of the cost of the VM, which depends on the size of the VM.
StorageLink comes with a 30-day free trial
, so you won't be charged any license fees for the first 30 days.
To stop getting charged for StorageLink, stop or terminate the VM.
Running StorageLink around the clock for 30 days costs $57.6
USD in license fees.
Pay as you go pricing
- AWS
- Azure
StorageLink uses the pay-as-you-go pricing model. You get charged a
flat rate of $0.08 USD
per hour, regardless of EC2 instance type.
This price is for the software only. There is a separate charge for the EC2 instance type.
When you stop or terminate the EC2 instance, you are no longer charged.
What does it mean to Subscribe
In the AWS Marketplace, a Subscription allows your organization to run the product in your AWS account. In other words, you are explicitly opting-in to use the product.
It does not cost anything to subscribe. Subscribing only affects whether the product can be launched in your AWS account.
Note: A child AWS account does not inherit product subscriptions from a parent AWS account. Each AWS account needs to individually subscribe in order to use the product.
Annual pricing
If you are running StorageLink in production, and you know which EC2 instance size best supports your workload, you might consider the annual pricing model. This locks you in for a year, but gives you a discount.
Like a reserved instance, annual pricing gives you a "credit" for each hour, over the course of a year. This works well if you have a single EC2 instance running around the clock.
StorageLink uses pay-as-you-go pricing. This means that you are charged a
flat rate of $0.08 per hour for the software when you are running the VM. This pricing
applies to the software only -- there is a separate hourly cost for the underlying VM.
The VM price depends on the class (e.g. B1ms
).
Note: The flat rate of $0.08 applies, regardless of which VM class you choose.
Blob storage costs extra. Although Blob storage is cheap, this cost may become significant depending on the workload.
How to stop being charged
When you want to stop getting charged for the product, you stop (deallocate) the VM in the Azure Portal. Deallocating will help ensure that you are no longer being metered for the underlying VM infrastructure.
