Version Support Calendar

TLDR

What: The support status of each StorageLink listing and version, and when older marketplace versions reach End of Maintenance and End of Life

Active: StorageLink BYOL 1.3.0 and the pay-as-you-go Marketplace listing from 1.3.0 — new features, bug fixes, and security patches

LTS: Marketplace 1.0.1–1.2.1 entered Long-Term Support in Sep 2026 (critical security patches case by case, plus technical support), with End of Maintenance in Sep 2027 and End of Life in Sep 2028

Upgrade Path: Launch a new 1.3.0 instance and restore a backup — on the pay-as-you-go listing with 10 or fewer users, or on StorageLink BYOL with more (an in-place upgrade comes up unlicensed)

Recommended: StorageLink BYOL — book a 15-minute call to get a license sized to your needs

Product: StorageLink by Thorn Technologies — cloud storage gateway for secure file sharing

The BYOL (Bring Your Own License) listing is the primary listing for StorageLink. Customers on this listing receive new features, regular security updates, and an ongoing upgrade path. The number of users is determined by your license — start with a 30-day free trial (10 users), then purchase a production license sized to your needs. Upgrading your license is a file upload — no migration required.

The marketplace listing is available on AWS, Azure, and GCP with hourly pricing. Starting with version 1.3.0, marketplace instances are licensed for 10 StorageLink users (administrators are not counted). Customers with more than 10 users should use the BYOL listing, where the license is available in 10-, 100- or 1,000-user tiers.

Older Versions

These versions are in Long-Term Support mode. They will continue to receive critical security patches on a case-by-case basis, and technical support is still provided. No new features or bug fixes will be added.

To move to 1.3.0, we recommend launching a new 1.3.0 instance and restoring a backup (see the Upgrade Process). A single-instance deployment can also run the in-place upgrade script, but an instance upgraded in place comes up unlicensed: you start the free 30-day trial and need a purchased license after it, while the hourly marketplace fee continues.

Version 1.3.0 introduces a 10-user limit on marketplace instances, so your path depends on how many users your deployment has:

  • 10 or fewer users: Move to v1.3.0 on the marketplace for the latest security patches and new features. No license is needed — a new 1.3.0 marketplace instance is licensed automatically, and you stay on marketplace billing as before.
  • More than 10 users: Move to the BYOL listing with a license tier that covers your user count (10, 100 or 1,000 users). If you move to v1.3.0 on the marketplace instead, your existing users keep working, but you cannot add or replace users beyond 10. Request a license to get started.
