Purchasing a License

TLDR

  • Marketplace VM — Subscribe on your cloud provider's marketplace. Pricing is pay-as-you-go ($0.08/hr) with a 30-day free trial.
  • BYOL (VM or Container) — Start a free trial from the admin UI, then book a 15-minute call to purchase a license key.

Overview

StorageLink offers two licensing paths depending on how you deployed the product:

DeploymentHow you payFree trial
Cloud Marketplace VM (AWS, Azure, or GCP)Pay-as-you-go via marketplace billing30 days, automatic
BYOL VM or ContainerLicense key purchased via Sales30 days, activated via admin UI

If you deployed StorageLink from a cloud marketplace listing with pay-as-you-go pricing, your subscription and billing are handled entirely through that marketplace — no separate license key is needed.

If you deployed a BYOL VM or are running the StorageLink container, you need to purchase and activate a license key. Both BYOL deployments use the same licensing flow: free trial activation via email, followed by a license key purchase.

Option 1: Cloud Marketplace (Pay-as-you-go)

If you deployed StorageLink from a cloud marketplace, you are already subscribed. Billing is automatic through your cloud provider at a flat rate of $0.08 USD per hour that the VM is running, on top of the underlying VM infrastructure cost.

StorageLink includes a 30-day free trial — you will not be charged any license fees for the first 30 days after deployment.

Subscribe on AWS Marketplace

  1. Go to the StorageLink product page on AWS Marketplace.

  2. Click Continue to Subscribe.

  3. Review the pricing terms and click Accept Terms.

    info

Subscribing does not cost anything by itself. It allows your AWS account to launch the product. Each AWS account must subscribe individually — child accounts do not inherit subscriptions from a parent account.

  4. Once the subscription is active, click Continue to Configuration to deploy a new instance, or launch from an existing deployment.

Annual pricing

If you are running StorageLink in production and know which EC2 instance size supports your workload, consider the annual pricing model. This locks you in for a year but provides a discount, similar to a reserved instance.

Option 2: BYOL (VM or Container)

If you deployed a BYOL VM or are running the StorageLink container, you need to purchase a license key and activate it in the admin UI. While unlicensed, file transfers (uploads, downloads, and transfer jobs) are disabled.

Start a free trial

Before purchasing, you can activate a 30-day free trial directly from the admin UI:

  1. Log in to the StorageLink admin interface.
  2. On the Start Free Trial card, enter your email address and accept the EULA.
  3. Check your email for a 6-digit verification code.
  4. Enter the code to activate your trial license.
info

Each deployment is eligible for one free trial. If your trial has already been used, you will see a message directing you to purchase a license.
