Existing customers
If you are on SFTP Gateway version 2, we highly recommend migrating to version 3 (since v2 will reach EOL at the end of 2024). Check out our v2 to v3 migration guide
If you are an existing SFTP Gateway customer running v3.5.1
or older, you
are currently being charged 0.07
per instance hour (or, 0.08
for larger
VM sizes).
The existing SFTP Gateway offer on Azure is being converted to SFTP Gateway Standard,
with the SFTP Gateway Standard features only available in v3.6.0
and later.
There is no action needed from you at this time. You will continue to be charged
your current price for SFTP Gateway. For example, if you are on v3.5.1
, you can
stay on this version for the time being.
If you are an older version of v3 (i.e. v3.4.6
or older), consider performing
an in-place upgrade to get caught up to v3.5.1
.
Note: The in-place upgrade will only take you to v3.5.1
. The only way to
run v3.6.0
is to migrate, which involves spinning up a new v3.6.0
VM,
importing a backup, and cutting over to it.
Eventually, customers in v3.5.1
will need to migrate to SFTP Gateway Standard
or SFTP Gateway Professional (i.e. v3.6.0
) in order to take advantage of
the latest features and security updates.
SFTP Gateway Standard
SFTP Gateway Standard was introduced in v3.6.0
. The Standard version
supports up to 5 SFTP users, and has the same pricing model as prior versions of
SFTP Gateway (i.e. starts at 7 cents an hour).
The Standard version is ideal for small businesses and sole proprietorships
where cost optimization is a primary concern. You can deploy SFTP Gateway Standard
on a B1ms
to save money. To save even more, consider using instance reservations
and stopping the VM when not in use.
The Standard version is also ideal for demo purposes or non-production tiers
like Dev
and QA
where there are not a lot of SFTP users.
The Standard version comes with free basic email support. It's important to note that this is tier 1 support, so troubleshooting is limited in scope to the product itself. Troubleshooting via screen share, which is a necessity for fixing production issues, is only available on SFTP Gateway Professional, or separately via our paid support tiers.
SFTP Gateway Professional
SFTP Gateway Professional was introduced in v3.6.0
. The Professional version
supports up to 100 SFTP users, and costs 15 cents per hour. Most customers fall
in this category.
The Professional version is ideal for production environments. Most customers rely on incoming SFTP files as a critical part of their workflow. So you want to make sure the SFTP service is as stable and reliable as possible.
The Professional version comes with Advanced Support. This includes priority response (you automatically jump to the front of the line), screen sharing support, and in-depth troubleshooting (tier 2 support). In the event you ever run into an issue, you want to make sure you have a lifeline when production is down.
The Professional version can also be deployed in high availability. This can improve uptime, since you have redundancy if one VM should fail. Also, you can scale out to handle heavy workloads and traffic spikes.
SFTP Gateway Enterprise
SFTP Gateway Enterprise was introduced in v3.6.0
. The Enterprise version
is intended for large enterprises that need custom development and integration
support. For example, an organizational policy requires that they use an
internally managed golden image built on Red Hat. We would provide a proposal
based on requirements discovery and level of effort.
